THE EMBASSY OF LITHUANIA CONTINUES WITH THE SERIES OF MEETINGS OF THE AMBASSADORS OF THE EU MEMBER STATES AND CANDIDATE COUNTRIES WITH THE DUTCH GOVERNEMENT OFFICIALS

On the 7th of October the Embassy of Lithuania has organized a meeting of the Ambassadors of the EU Member States and candidate countries with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands Mr. Frans Timmermans.

In his opening remarks, the Ambassador of Lithuania Darius Semaška highlighted the priorities of the Lithuanian Presidency of the Council of the EU and emphasized the role of the Dutch Government in helping to achieve the goals of building a growing, credible and open Europe.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and the diplomatic representatives of the EU countries have discussed the most important issues on the EU agenda, paying special attention to the upcoming Eastern Partnership Summit, which will take place in Vilnius on 28-29 November, as well as EU relations with Russia and cooperation between the Member States and the EU institutions.

The meeting was part of the series of meetings of the Ambassadors and the high Dutch Government officials that the Embassy is hosting during the Lithuanian Presidency of the Council of the EU. The Dutch Minister of Finance and the Chairman of the Eurogroup Mr. Jeroen Dijsselbloem has already participated in such a meeting in September.
