On the 11th of December an opening of a photo exhibition of a young photographer from Lithuania, Monika Bielskytė, took place at the photo museum “FOAM” in Amsterdam.

As of December 12, the visitors of the “FOAM” museum in Amsterdam will have an opportunity to see some of the works of M. Bielskyte. Some of her earlier works have already been on display in various photo galleries in France and Stockholm.

The exhibition in Amsterdam is the first part of the “A Place to Wash the Heart” project, that consists of photographs, taken during a journey of the artist to the Far East – Cambodia, China, Vietnam and Laos. During the journey, M. Bielskytė was exploring history of the countries as well as individual history of persons living there. The works of the artist present not only real persons, but also their environment and the existing relations between a person and its environment. The organizers of the exhibition in Amsterdam stressed, that her works are dark, but utterly ‘sincere’ and ‘real’. According to the visitors of the “FOAM” museum, that have already had an opportunity to see her works, her works are ‘impressive’ and ‘moving’.

During her conversation with the Third secretary of the Embassy of Lithuania Gina Kazlauskienė, the artist expressed her wish to continue cooperation with Dutch photo museums and art galleries. G. Kazlauskienė wished the artist from Lithuania further creative success, successful implementation of current and future projects.

The exhibition will be on display at the Amsterdam “FOAM” photo museum until January 18, 2009.
