"M.K.ČIURLIONIS. DREAMING OF LITHUANIA" EXHIBITION IN THE MUSEUM OF FINE ARTS IN GENT, BELGIUM
The exhibition “M. K. Čiurlionis. Dreaming of Lithuania“ in Gent Museum of Fine Arts is a first large-scale exhibition of M. K. Čiurlionis art works and his musical production in Belgium, offering a great opportunity to truly discover this fascinating and multifaceted artist from Lithuania.
The exhibition displays nearly 180 works by M. K. Čiurlionis including his sketches, engravings, photographs, manuscripts, sheet music, postcards and prints, and most importantly – his paintings, in which the artist sings praises of the legendary Lithuanian past and the natural beauty of his country. Additionally, in the main exhibition halls visitors can stop and listen to the music composed by Čiurlionis as well as hear the readings of his letters written to the adored wife Sofija Kymantaitė.
All of the loans are made available by the National M. K. Čiurlionis Art Museum of Kaunas. The exhibition is part of the cultural program of Lithuanian Presidency of the EU Council and is open until 15 December.
