INVITATION TO "SNIFFING AT LITERATURE FROM LITHUANIA"

On Friday, the 5th of June 2009 an official delivery of the Dutch version of the "Almanac of the European Literary Days in Šiauliai", "Sniffing at Literature from Lithuania", will take place in the library of Leeuwarden.Markus Roduner Junior Researcher at the ‘Institute of the Lithuanian Language’ in Vilnius. One of the few people who translates literature from Lithuanian into German. He has published several literary translations and articles. Further, Roduner is the initiator and organizer of the ‘European Literary Days in Siauliai’. Authors from other ‘small languages’ also participate in this event. His presentation (in English) deals with this literary event, the language, contemporary authors and literary climate in Lithuania in general.

Koos Tiemersma

Writes books in the Frisian language, and has contacts with authors from Baltic countries. He will read a few parts from his latest novel “Under wetter”, share his experiences in Lithuania and explain the link with Fryslân.
