INVITATION TO A CONCERT OF THE LITHUANIAN CHORAL MUSIC
The Embassy of Lithuania to the Kingdom of the Netherlands cordially invites you to a concert of the Lithuanian choral music, organised to celebrate the Lithuanian presidency of the Council of the European Union. The concert will be held on 3 December (Tuesday), at 18:00 o'clock, at the Church of Our Savior (address: Bezuidenhoutseweg 157, 2594 AG The Hague).
In the programme - Vilnius university academic choir “Gaudeamus” (conductor Rasa Gelgotienė) and Vilnius university chamber music orchestra (conductor Paulius Bernardas Koncė), performing compositions from the Lithuanian choral music repertoire.
“Gaudeamus”, established in 1940, is a choir of students and graduates of Vilnius University. Throughout the years the choir has prepared numerous programmes, performed with symphonic orchestras and participated and won in many domestic and international choir festivals and competitions in more than 15 countries of Europe, as well in Kazakhstan, Turkey, Mexico, Cuba and the USA.
Vilnius University Chamber orchestra was founded in 1979. During the past three decades the orchestra not only became an established part of the musical life of Lithuania, but has also travelled all the way from Mexico to Moscow. The orchestra presented various programmes under some of the most beautiful domes of the churches and cathedrals in Europe, visiting Geneva, Madrid, Paris, Venice, Rome and Valletta in some of its most recent tours.
