EXHIBITION OF WORKS OF LITHUANIAN CERAMICISTS IN ALMELO
On the 6th of September, the opening ceremony of an exhibition of works of two ceramicists from Lithuania, Vilija Balciuniene (Vilija Balčiūnienė) and Osvaldas Balciunas (Osvaldas Balčiūnas), took place at the Westerdok ceramics centre in Almelo.
The ceramicists presented a large variety of works to the Dutch public: ceramic works made of stone and paper, as well as works made according to a special old Japanese tradition of working with clay. The works of Lithuanian ceramicists are influenced by major recent trends in ceramic art in the world as well as the Baltic influences.
It is not the first opportunity for Dutch fans of ceramic art to become acquainted with art works of the two ceramicists from Panevezys (Panevėžys).
Art of V. Balciuniene and O. Balciunas has already received high evaluations by visitors of exhibitions in Latvia, Germany, Austria, France and Belgium. V. Balciuniene has taken part in a number of exhibitions, workshops and ceramic festivals and has organized a personal exhibition in Lithuania.
The exhibition will be complemented by a spectacular show on the 26th of September. At a picturesque valley of a river the artists will bake in a special stove brought from Lithuania and open to the public a fire sculpture on which they have been working during the past few weeks.
The exhibition will be on display in the Westerdok ceramics centre in Almelo until the 28th of September.
