EXHIBITION OF THE WORKS OF SIGITAS STANIŪNAS IN ROTTERDAM

On the 29th of May in Rotterdam, which is one of the most diverse cities of the Netherlands, where different cultures are intertwined, the opening of an exposition of the works of Sigitas Staniūnas took place. The exposition is organized to pay tribute to the H.M.Queen Beatrix state visit to Lithuania that will take place from the 24th until the 26th of June this year. H.E.Mr. Vaidotas Verba, the Ambassador of the Republic of Lithuania to the Kingdom of the Netherlands, and Baron Schimmelpenninck van der Oije, the Chamberlain of H.M.Queen in Rotterdam, opened the exhibition.

In his greeting addressed to representatives of the Queen‘s house, representatives of the diplomatic corps and the Lithuanian community present at the ceremony, the Ambassador stressed that the state visit of H.M.Queen Beatrix to Lithuania is an important event in the history of cooperation of the two countries, tightening the bilateral relations. Due to the fact that H.M.Queen Beatrix is interested in art, the exhibition of S.Staniūnas, a representative of a new generation of internationally oriented Lithuanian artists, is a bright accent presenting the Lithuanian culture on the eve of the historical visit. S.Staniūnas, who was present at the opening ceremony of the exhibition in Rotterdam, presented to the guests the main idea of the project, and he presented a music group from Lithuania that helped him realize his conception and that performed music pieces conducted especially for the exhibition.

At the opening of the exhibition, video and audio material representing the creation process of S.Staniūnas‘s paintings was presented. There was also a booklet in which the guests could find more information about the artist and the exhibition.

The exhibition of Sigitas Staniūnas will be on display in Galerie Animaux in Rotterdam until the 15th of June.
