Commemoration of All Saints' and All Souls' Days

The Embassy of Lithuania in the Netherlands on November 1 continued the tradition of respectful commemoration of All Saints' and All Souls' Days.
H.E. Mr. Darius Semaška, Ambassador of Lithuania to the Netherlands, paid tribute to Jan Zwartendijk (1896-1976) when visiting his grave in Roterdam on November 1, 2016. Jan Zwartendijk was a Consul of the Netherlands in Lithuania in 1940 and helped to save more than 2000 jews with his colleague Japanese Consul Chiune Sugihara.
