CHRISTMAS CELEBRATION OF THE LITHUANIAN COMMUNITY IN ROTTERDAM
On the 13th of December Christmas celebration of the Lithuanian Community took place in Rotterdam. The celebration, to the organization of which the Embassy of Lithuania has had a pleasure to contribute, welcomed members of the Dutch-Lithuanian community, students and Lithuanians, working and residing in the Netherlands, as well as representatives of the Embassy and cooperating Dutch institutions. The meeting availed the attendees of the opportunity to summarize activities of this year and discuss the plans for the upcoming year.
Mons. Visvaldas Kulbokas opened the meeting with a liturgy. The Lithuanian jazz musicians V. Straižys (piano) and P. Gefenas (flute), studying in The Hague Royal music academy, organized a wonderful concert, attracting the attention of the guests and creating a warm holiday atmosphere.
Next year the growing Dutch Lithuanian community plans to continue its cooperation with the Embassy in the areas of culture, art and education.
Earlier this year, on the 6th of December, the Lithuanian school „Varpelis“ organized a Christmas celebration for children, that were amused by special guests from Vilnius - inhabitants of Emerald city. The celebration was full of surprises, presents and was accompanied by a joyful holiday mood.
