Lithuania’s Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis commented on the decision of Belarus to withdraw from the Eastern Partnership
On 28 June, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Gabrielius Landsbergis commented on the Belarusian regime's decision to withdraw from the EU's Eastern Partnership program. According to Lithuania’s Foreign Minister, by withdrawing from the Eastern Partnership, the regime, first of all, punishes the people of Belarus and continues to isolate itself.
"Illegitimate leaders do not take such decisions. The people of Belarus are expected to take advantage of the Eastern Partnership. However, this is likely to happen already after the elections. We call for the non-recognition of changes to international obligations, sovereignty or revisions made by illegitimate authorities. The EU’s offer of reforms and support package to democratic Belarus remains valid," said the head of Lithuania's diplomacy.
