On 23 November, during the visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Gabrielius Landsbergis to Washington, D.C., the first bilateral meeting of the Lithuania-U.S. strategic dialogue on the Indo-Pacific region took place in the history of our state.

The meeting focused on strategic trends in the Indo-Pacific region. The participants of the meeting consulted on prospects for bilateral cooperation and the development of relations with our partners. The Lithuanian and American delegations also discussed opportunities for economic cooperation.

“For the first time in the history of Lithuania's relationship with the U.S., we have opened a strategic dialogue at such a level. Together with the U.S., we have a common interest in strengthening partnerships with the countries that have a joint commitment to democratic values. We appreciate the U.S. political and expert support that will help Lithuania to establish and foster long-term, strong relations with the like-minded  countries in the Indo-Pacific, East Asian region," said Landsbergis.

Lithuania raises its diplomatic representation in the region in order to strengthen its political relations with the East Asian countries and to open new horizons for market diversification. Over recent years, Lithuania has opened its Embassies in Australia and South Korea. Decisions have also been taken on the establishment of an Embassy in Singapore and mutual trade representative offices with Taiwan.
